Review: Omakase Marikina

Standard

I cannot get enough of my cravings, and tonight is Japanese Food kind of night, the first thing that pop in my head Omakase, hahaha… well I have been dying to try their food but hesitant that the price if their food is a bit pricey, but I was wrong.. It’s worth the risk! hahaha.. The place is located along Gil Fernando Ave, when we got there, the place is pack so we have to wait for a spot to be seated. The interiors are modern but it has that good feel to it. Service is ok! They got our orders and after 15mins orders started to be served but they have some lapses and we need to follow up the remaining orders that haven’t been served. 20150511_210356

Review: Backyard Kitchen and Brew UPTown Center Katipunan

Standard

Different food chains are brewing left and right to different parts of Metro Manila. Backyard Kitchen and Brew at UPTown Center in Katipunan is one of the must try food chain. It’s located on Phase 2 with other restos. What I like about the place is design and interior or the place, it has a cool vibe and the interior is like from Backyard Salvage series (if your watching it, you know what I mean) where they used materials and re-create it to something new. I’m a fan of wood furnishing, I don’t know but I just love the homey feeling that it gives with the accentuated lightnings.

Review: Banapple

Standard

Banapple is one of our go to places for quick gatherings with friends and colleagues. It’s also our go to places for rewarding ourselves after a hard days work. We would always go back to Banapple for their big servings  of their food for a reasonable price, their mouth-watering cakes and pastries. The place has its own charm, their fun colors in their interiors and a white picket fence effect.

Review: Grumpy Joe Baguio

Standard

I first saw Grumpy Joe on Facebook and I told myself that I have to try their food, but they are only located in Baguio which I haven’t been to, ever in my life. So when I got he chance to go to Baguio for a quick trip before 2014 ends, and who knows when will I be back again, so I must try it no matter what. It’s on my list of the food places that I have to try in Baguio.

So after a long day of walking uphill, downhill the city (which is I don’t mind at all since the whether is cold), we’re totally famished, the last real food that we had is breakfast, so we wanted to really eat something good. After walking  around Camp John Hay, we’re supposed to check out 50’s Diner (on my list too) but were 15th on the waiting list and we can’t wait anymore since we are already starving, good thing that Grumpy Joe is just beside 50’s Diner.

By the time we got there, the place is full, there’s no queue but we still need to wait a few minutes before we got seated. IMG_6371

Review: Kogi Bulgogi

Standard

Who says Valentines is celebrated only on the day itself (February 14), no matter what day it is, love should always be celebrated. Since February 15, 2013 is payday Friday and it’s post Valentines Day, its not yet late for friends, families and lovers to spend this day and celebrate Valentines.

Friday has always been the most stressful day for me, since I have work to finish and report to submit (chos), my way of distressing is spending time with friends to unwind and getting ready for the weekend ahead. Since I’m a big fan of Korean culture, trying Korean food is a must.

Found a Korean Cuisine around the Metro: Kogi Bulgogi is located on the 2nd level of Eastwood Mall in Quezon City (veranda area)

Image

The place is a small, cozy, well lighted place. They have small bamboo plants as part of their interior which makes the place you would want to stay more. They also have comfortable table couches outside the restaurant if you and friends prefer outside the restaurant. They also have free-wifi (that i didn’t get the chance to use) you can ask the person serving you for the password if you need a quick access to internet. To get the Korean vibe they are greeting guests in Korean (Annyeonghaseyo!), Korean music is also playing in the background, i just don’t recognize whose music and artist it is ^_^

ImageImage

Their menu is limited to Korean dishes, so if you really want to try Korean cuisine in their true nature you can try Kogi Bulgogi, I’m just disappointed with their menu on dessert, because they are only limited to ice cream. I’m so curious what Koreans eat for dessert, i guess they really love ice cream, even in Korean dramas ice cream and yogurts are their choices for sweets/dessert i guess.  Prices of their food is average, they ranges from 200php – 400php which is ok since serving size enough and can leave you full.

Our food:

Korean dishes are popular with their side-dishes. I’m very much excited on the side dish part, because not all restaurant provide side dishes, you have to order it separately and be charge for it, but with Korean food, they have finger food before your order really arrives. They may be small servings but it’s just enough to enjoy everything that has been served. They’re all delicious. YUM! 🙂 🙂 🙂

IMG_1951[1]

I’m not so sure with the name of the dish but this really looks like Gyoza, only it is the small version. This dish can be eaten steamed or fried, I’m just disappointed because of their serving size, infairness it is really good. You might want to order another one.

IMG_1952[1]IMG_1954[1]

I ordered the chiken bibimbap. YUM! I think the best way to eat a bibimbap is to mix everything and make a good sauce, it makes the food more flavorful. it has a chili paste which is included to this dish. Koreans are known for their spicy foods, but I’m not fan of super spicy foods so to mellow the spiciness I mixed the soy sauce and small amount of the chili paste, and VIOLA its perfect for adding flavor to the dish.

My friend ordered a beef and mushroom rice topping. Simple but very delicious, the meat is just right and tasty. By the way if you ordered an iced tea you’ll get a 1 free re-fill ^_^.

I really enjoyed the food here, too bad I didn’t get to try the lettuce wrap which is also common Korean food. I would definitely come back and try other dishes. 🙂 You should too!

What’s for Lunch?

Standard

Undecided of what to eat for lunch and lunch break is almost over, a quick bite is only my choice. One of my fave sandwich place is Earle’s. They have this delicious looking sandwiches and sausages that you will definitely want to try. Not only they serve sandwiches and sausages they also have salads for people that are health conscious or as we say “on diet”. You can also buy cold cut meats, in case you want to prepare your own  sandwich, you can be sure that the meat you bought is clean and safe. Anyways, for my lunch this is what I ordered:

Smoked Chiken

Dinner Date – Rai Rai Ken

Standard

Its Friday night after office and what more fun to do, is go out with office mate and unwind all the pressure of work. We decided to go out and have dinner in one of the restaurant in Ortigas area. Undecided of what to eat so we just all go for Japanese food so we headed to Rai Rai Ken for dinner. What’s nice about their menu, there are many variations of Japanese food though there are only few dessert to choose from. They also have group meals which are very affordable and will leave you with a happy belly.

[LATE POST] Boracay Cravings

Standard

I always wanted to eat sea foods whenever I’m in places like beaches. You can find a lot of restaurants and common fast food chains around Boracay especially around D’Mall. But since, I rarely go to beach, I thought of trying something I don’t eat on a regular basis. While walking along Station 2 there are restaurants that offers “paluto-type” for sea foods, but the price is way to expensive. I heard at D’Talipapa, they are offering “paluto” which is much cheaper and you can ask for discount for the seafoods, and because I’m craving for sugpo and crab, we really look for the place they call D’Talipapa. Prices of “Paluto” depends on the type of food you like them to cook.

We had four menu for lunch. But I only took three pictures of our menu of our lunch. These can feed 5 people, but me and my boyfie ate all of them. Busog much!! Try it and at the end of it you will say “THIS IS LIFE!” ☺☺☺

— Chili Sauce Crab —

 — Sinigang na Sugpo —

All the foods are really delicious. This is what I miss, the food.. ♥♥♥

D’Talipapa is not only known for “paluto” they also have cheap souvenirs. ☺
