[TOKYO] Day 2 – Bullet Train to Tokyo from Osaka – Meiji Shrine – Takeshita Street

We had an early start to catch the earliest train going to Tokyo via Shinkansen. Japan having the most complicated train connection (for me) and most efficient in the world (for me again) is worth every peso. Before the trip we have been planning and been open to other options on how we’re going to travel to Tokyo. It is not the most economical way, some would say, just visit one city at a time. True! But who knows when will I’d be able to set foot again in Japan. We have decided to do a tri-city, and to experience as much as possible so, pikit-matang we decided to get a JR pass (good for 7 days) which cost double of my plane ticket.. hahaha!

When we arrived Kansai Airport, we did what we need to do, like pick-up the pocket wifi that we rented, exchange the JR pass and exchange our moolahs to yen. We spent a night at the airport, and as early as 6am we took the an early train going to Shin-Osaka Station and take the bullet train going to Tokyo.

Shin-Osaka station is probably one of the busiest station, since this station is the main transfer to different city. The station is so big and busy, so before leaving for Tokyo we bought some bento for breakfast. Travel time from Osaka to Tokyo via Shinkansen is about 3 hours, that’s how fast Japan train is. AMAZING! It’s not just fast, but really travel friendly, would you believe it comes with a AC connection, with that 3 hours is enough to fully charge my phone or gadget. πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚

After 3 hours, HELLO Tokyo! We went directly to 1/3 Residences located in Akihabara where we’ll be staying during our stay in Tokyo. As expected we are early for check-in, though we we’re already there, they weren’t able to accommodate us, so we need to wait, so what we did, we started our Tokyo trip by going to Meiji Shrine and explore Takeshita Street.

Takeshita Street is packed with students and kids dressing up. We explored the street and found some foods to try. We did not buy anything, that suits our taste, charot! πŸ˜€ πŸ˜€

We walked back and went to Meiji Shrine which is on the other side, explored the place, though the place is touristy, you can feel the quietness ans stillness of the place.

We did a wishing thingy, I don’t remember what I wished for but I guess good health for me and my family. We did a little exploring of the place then head back to our place to check-in. We’re supposedly go to Shibuya that night but, I was so tired and sleepy and couldn’t get my ass to go out, so I stayed and sleep the rest of the day. What a day for our first day in Tokyo! πŸ˜€ πŸ˜€ πŸ˜€

Hello and Good night Tokyo… I”ll explore you tomorrow , aight!

[OSAKA] Day 7 – Universal Studio Japan

Another theme park to explore is Universal Studio Japan which is located in Osaka. We have purchased ticket for USJ in advance thru online. You can check Klook for tickets if you want to buy in advance. Excited to visit USJ, I’m so looking forward to visiting the Harry Potter theme park, the highlight of our Japan trip. Since something came up in our hotel, I have to travel alone going to USJ, and my friends just decided that we’ll just meet there, packed with our ever reliable pocket wifi, I went on my own. Good thing I didn’t get lost hahahaha.. just like DisneySea, you can bring food inside the theme park, don’t worry there are convenience store and other food stall along Universal City.

[TOKYO] Day 4 – Sensoji Shrine – Asakusa – Tokyo Skytree – Omotesando – Shibuya

Had an early day ahead, coz I’m meeting a friends who has been to Japan for quite awhile. Our itinerary for today is around Sensoji Shrine. We’ll, it must be my lucky day! He happens to pay for everything from transportation, to food and evenΒ  he gave me a gift and paslubong back home to our friends. It’s nice seeing him, since we barely see him when he’s back in the Philippines and I’m happy that he is doing good. πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚

We met at the Akihabara station, then we had a quick breakfast at Starbucks. We went to Sensoji Temple right away, for a dose of temple hunt.

[TOKYO] Day 3 – Whole Day at Disney Sea @ Tokyo Disneyland Resort

Where so excited, DisneySea can only be seen in Tokyo, Japan and only one of its concept, well enough of that I know by now you know that already. Let’s explore Disney Sea. Their concept is very different from the Disneyland which is more of the Disney characters, princes and princesses and I do feel that it cater to more of the younger kids. I would have probably enjoyed it if I was still a kid, the experience when I went to Disneyland is still amazing since I grew up watching Disney films and it has been a long dream of mine to visit Disneyland. πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚

[JAPAN] 9 Days Itinerary and Expense

It’s been weeks since I arrived from Japan and memories are still fresh and longs to go back there the soonest.. Japan is indeed #JaFun, there are still a lot to explore and reason to go back..

For those who are planning to go to Japan, I’ll share our 9-day itinerary in Japan (Tokyo-Osaka-Kyoto)

You will notice that towards the end of the trip we did not packed our itinerary let’s say we just go with the flow of what we want to do. πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚

Expense for the whole trip is still around the estimated budget. It’s not the most conservative amount of budget and there are other ways to lower your expense. Since this is my first Japan Trip, I’d like to experience as much as I can, like the bullet train which pretty much has been a big chunk on our budget, and the personal items that I bought which is of course depends on how much you want to spend on the pasalubong and kawaii stuff. I got so excited that I actually lost count on my spending.. hahaha!!! πŸ˜€ πŸ˜€ πŸ˜€

There are still more places to see and explore, I still got reasons to go back to this country. πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚

[JAPAN] How to apply for Japan Visa?

You will see a lot of this topic on the internet. I just wanna share mine because everyone has a different story, but same feeling and the sudden doubt of their chances and the feeling once they finally got their golden ticket to Japan.

You can score a good airfare, you can visit any Asian country that doesn’t require visa for Filipinos and undergo the emotional stress of whether you got approved or denied. Since we are big dreamers, let’s take it to the next level, Japan has been one of the countries we all love to visit one day. One of the requirement for you to enter Japan is to have visa upon entry and over the years Japan has been strictly lenient on issuing visa for Filipinos until recently that applying for visa has become easy, but of course there are still horror stories about applying Japan visa.

I’m happy that on my first try I got approved, because if not, my heart will be broken because I already paid for an airfare only to find out, nganga sa visa πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚

Japan visa is processed thru Japan Embassy’s accredited travel agencies. So check out the nearest travel agency on your location. I applied mine thru Reli Tours in Megamall. They are located on the 5th Flr beside Bo’s Coffee.

Here are the list of requirements you need to submit when applying for a tourist visa (w/o guarantor):

  1. Philippine Passport
    • Broken lamination of the photo is not accepted. Make sure that your passport is in good condition and at least 2 blank pages are available.
  2. Visa Application Form. Download here.
    • Make sure to fill out all the categories. N/A for questions that doesn’t apply. If you are an OC like me, you can fill up the form by typing the answer then just print it.
  3. Photo
    • Photo size should be 4.5cm x 4.5cm with white background. I had mine at Fujifilm in Megamall, just tell them it’s for Japan visa use and they know it already. Make sure you’re wearing a collared shirt, but if your not ready they have available blazer that you can use. It will cost you 195php for a set of photo.
  4. Birth Certificate of the applicant
    • This should be certified by NSO. You have two option, you can request thru NSO via phone or thru their satellite offices. I requested mine thru SM Business Center, good thing satellite offices are already accessible and offered in malls. For the NSO birth certificate 140php/page and handling fee of 20php. So I paid 160php/page and 7 days processing from the date of request. So this is not advisable if you urgently needed the birth certificate.
  5. Marriage contract (if the applicant is married)
    • Same with Number 4. In case of non record, you may submit certificate of non record together with the one from the Local Civil Registrar.
  6. Daily Schedule in Japan (TAIZAI NITTEIHYO).
    • This can be downloaded thru Japan Embassy website. I prepared 5-day itinerary but our actual stay in Japan is 9 days πŸ˜€ πŸ˜€ πŸ˜€ . For the accommodation, I made a mocked book via There are accommodation that doesn’t require credit card to be able to book a room, so just look for those accommodation so that if you got denied, it won’t be so much burden of cancelling your booking.
  7. Bank Certificate
    • You can request this to your bank. You can also get the bank certificate on the same day upon request (depending on your bank). 100php will be debited to your account for the bank certificate request. (this apply for BPI accounts)
  8. Income Tax Return (Form 2307) original or photocopy
    • You can request for the ITR to your HR. I have requested for the latest ITR for the year 2015.

Additional document that I have submitted is Certificate of Employment, you can just request this to your HR, though this is not part of the requirement I just submitted this anyway and the agency accepted it.

I have submitted all the requirements to Reli Tours office in Megamall. All you need to do is they will ask you if you have a completely filled up application form and the requirements, once you have the documents they will give you a number.

They will call out the number and the coordinators will assess the documents submitted, if found complete they will give a piece of paper for your reference and it’s time to pay the processing fee. Processing fee is 950php and waiting time is within 7 to 15 days.

After 7 days, I got a text from Reli Tours advising me that my passport is already ready for pick-up, they will not confirm if you got approve or not, you have to find out yourself.. hahaha! Tension rises as I scram to get to their office to find out the result of my application.

GOOD NEWS! I got approved!

Japan here I come!!!!! #JafunJafun
