Review: Reggae Mansion Kuala Lumpur

On our recent trip in Malaysia, we had the chance to stay on a 5-star hotel which is a Grand Hyatt Hotel – Kuala Lumpur. Lucky us, that we get to stay there for 3days/2nights for FREE! (sponsored by slambookproject) But since we’ll be staying for 4 days, we have to find a place we could stay at least for 1 night. The experience at Grand Hyatt Hotel is nice and really relaxing (which I’ll be making a separate review) and it would be nice to have that same experience once in a while or in our next vacation 😀 😀 😀 (is there anyone out there who’d be willing to sponsor? hahahha!) Am not really particular with the place I’m staying as long as we feel its safe, clean and feasible to all tourist spot.

So how did I came across with Reggae Mansion, me being meticulous of planning our trip. I’ve been searching online for the best place to stay in Kuala Lumpur and checking reviews of other travelers. I was hesitant at first, since you really have to book online either directly to them or  thru booking facilities online. Since there are other hostels in Kuala Lumpur that doesn’t need any down payment, you’ll just have to reserve, and payment can be made once we arrived. But what really attracts me is their dorm type rooms and the environment so I booked online thru, which is a safe and reliable online booking for your accommodation. So booking at Reggae Mansion is CHECKED!

We arrived early from their scheduled check-in time, so we left our luggage at their luggage room and had lunch first and come back to check-in. Check-in is fast, we paid for the remaining fee, and VIOLA! keys, access to their Wi-Fi and they informed us of the inclusions of our accommodations. I booked for a dorm-type of 12 female room, but due to fully-booked, they gave us a twin private room for no extra charge. SUUUHHWEEEET! 😀 They usually require security deposit for the key, but since the receptionist at the time of our check-in is a Filipino, he waived our security deposit.. LUCKY US! 🙂 I didn’t get his name, but super thanks!

The room is clean and well lighted, though the T.V has only 2 channels. (hehehe). After unpacking some stuff, we went out for some pasalubong shopping. Reggae Mansion has a lot to offer to its guests, they have lounges if you love to just hang-out and meet other travelers all over the world. The place is well-ventilated on the hallways and lounges, just pick a spot, read and relax.

If you need to send email, upload big files, or contact your family back home,  you can use their computer station for a fee, but there is a FREE Wi-Fi anywhere in the hostel so it keeps you connected. CHECK!

Our room is on the 2nd floor so its a bit hard to take our luggage, there’s no elevator, and the stair is a bit steep and small, so its not advisable for old guests. It would hard for them to go up and down the stairs.

Though our room is just beside the street, I still get to sleep well, I did not notice any honking from vehicles on the street that night. The place is safe and guest are given access code in case doors are locked beyond their curfews. Our stay includes free breakfast. Breakfast is served from 7am  to 10:30am.

The place is clean and well maintained by their staff. They also have their own cinema, that you can use, they charge RM6 with FREE popcorn. And if you really want to mingle with other travelers and guest, they have their rooftop bar, at night, where the party starts. You can also get the view of the KL Tower. Though our stay is for 1 night I really enjoyed my stay, I would definitely comeback. So if you plan to visit Malaysia, I would recommend Reggae Mansion.
